Deckground

Deckground is a skateboarding field located at the southern end of Fuxing Island Slipway Park, on the former site of No.1 Dock of the China Shipbuilding Corporation. Built with reclaimed timber and structured through a scaffolding-based system, the project accommodates open bowls and wave-shaped ramps. The continuous surfaces shaped by skating trajectories recall the hull lines formed below the waterline during shipbuilding. Seating is integrated into the structure, with resting and service spaces embedded beneath, creating a layered and multifunctional open field. The resonance of skateboarding sounds within the bowls draws people into the space below, activating a sequence of sensory experiences through sound, vision, and bodily movement.
